The heart

Did it
Play
On those
Lonesome
Grim
Days

Did you
Chase
Them
Away
Or did
You invite
Them
To stay

Did you
Think
Of what
To say
Considering
Every outcome
At the end
Of the day

Did you play
The games
You were
Invited
To play

Did you
Say
The words
You needed
To say

Or did you
Shy away
Waiting
For

Another day

Which never
Did come
Your way

Did you
Love
Unlike
Ever
Before

Did you open
A door
Or clean
Up a mess
On the
Floor

Or must you
Stumble
Some more

To appreciate
Those
Having gone
Before

For this year
Is unlike
Any before

The hearts
That are sore
Lovers
Yearning
For more

Not thinking

Too much drinking

Failure going
Before

So unlike
Any before
Why not
Make it
Your chore

To be
Humble
To be
Kind

Not worshipping

Mankind

Materialism
Money

Like before

It’s zero
You will
Score

If you continue
Like you did
Before

You’ll land
Up broken
And sore

Unloved

Empty
In the core

So I ask you

Do you

Change
The ways
Of before

And be
A better
Person
Than
You were
Before

The door
