Just a little something I wrote today.

Why do wounds itch when they are healing?

For the same reason that a hurt to the heart aches as it mends.

It may feel as if it festers and burns and worsens,

While truly it betters itself in its own way, in its own time.

Hi there,

I think you are really close with this one. First of all the itch of a healing wound is where the strongest heat is here. Well done. And yes the heart aches when it mends, this is close but I wonder if you can show what is happening externally when the pain is in your chest. For example, is the person looking at you before saying goodbye, the empty laundry basket that used to be filled with his clothes. Something as concrete and tactile as a scar that itches.

I do like the compact structure you've created, and the sound is working well in the poem. Keep at it. This one is worth the effort.
