A Recipe for Disaster

A Recipe for Disaster

A Poem by FamaSemperVivat
"

One of my very first AP poems actually a mistake that started me on the writing track.

"
In a very large bowl, place three unrelated thoughts, separated from a swiss cheese brain.
Whip into frenzy, then add a dash of confusion and beat until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

In saucepan mix a cup or two of strength and courage,
with a just pinch of stubbornness.
Let it come to a full rolling boil over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture forms a hard ball when dropped in cold water;
remove from heat and pout
into the large bowl of unrelated thoughts
in a fine stream beating constantly until glossy,
continue beating until gloss subsides.
Then--

When beaten well add a teaspoon of insanity,
along with a touch of impatience.
And spread unevenly in oblong pan, then try to wait until cool.

Really great write. I love the description of the "swiss cheese brain. The way you use the form of a recipe is really wonderful. My favorite part has to be the last stanza though! It really brought a smile to my lips. I have felt caught up in insanity the last few days! Keep on penning.

Wonderful, sounds like a recipe for disaster. I bet it gives heartburn and causes dizzy spells right after, and then a quick rush to the nearest bathroom. Wonderful and the last few days I have been feeling this way about whats happening on AP.

Nice. I really liked this poem.
The effect of writing it like a recipe was most certainly a first for me. I have never seen this style of writing, however, I now wish to see it more often.
Very original. Also, very descriptive of the narrator's life.
This is a strong piece!
