Unfamiliar Familiar

Unfamiliar Familiar

A Poem by Faith Anderson
"

This poem is about Alzheimer's, which a family member of mine has. I wrote this because his condition is getting worse and I felt like I was scratching at the walls of my skull for words, & this came

"
Lost on a staircase
How did I get here?
Where do these steps lead?
Was I going up or down?

Scratching at the walls
Trying to find a light switch
Anything
To get me back
To the place
Where I remember.
