five notch trail, five waterfalls

five notch trail, five waterfalls

"

old mill seat and iron bridge, waterhole for the soul
where shawnee run, where shakers collected toll

blankets and sticks, shrine from stonepile, moss and all
he led me well, blazed the five notch trail, five waterfalls.....

in the ancient patch, settin' rows in the settler's shadows
where the McAfee's staked it off, where logs became boroughs

red corolla sunroof, dave with heart of jesus, that smile and laugh
life lived well, up and down five notch trail, escaping man's wrath

above oregon, there the old lexington pike ferried across
when Harrod found that spring, when Lord Dunmore was boss

green tercel knobtread, gravel travel, beaten with the gavel
lies wound tight, untied; with time, truth began to unravel

under stone ceiling, constant dripping misty spray
where the path goes, where peace will always stay

blue metro four by four, creek-bed climber, the old way
past midnight, new day, five waterfalls just yesterday
