Ohh how the heart bleeds,
and the truth needs..
to be disseminated.

Gotta find the time,
to expose some crime.
Better watch where you dig,
cause they'll make you disappear.

When they prosecute you,
and villify you, and chase you down,
there's nowhere to hide.

Collect it all.
Store it all.
Know it all.
Tap it all.
Yes! Total surveillance.

Gotta know everything that's goin' on about you,
but you won't know a thing about me.
It's called liberty.
It's been sacrificed for yet more security,
that don't exist!

Ohh, you poor domesticated human pet slaves.

...and I think of Ed Snowden,
and Jim Foley in an orange jumpsuit,
and ohh, how I feel so sad for the journalists,

...and the whistleblowin' truthtellers.

Like the one holed up in Ecuadoran Embassy Assange.
All day long.

But oh, now the nation cries with the Foley parents,
cause they love their journalists.
They want their freedom of the press.
We must confess.

Don't stress, you just need the affection and the caress.

Don't worry about the loot, so hands up, don't shoot!
Hands up, don't shoot! Hands up! Don't shoot!

Barney Fife's gone all Tackleberry, hands up, don't shoot.
Ohh I love my freedom of the press!
In the United Corporate State of America...

Wow! I can see how impassioned you are about this! It's super hard to get both your voice and your emotion over to a reader in one poem, and you definitely did just that! Good job!
