Specialness.

 

Ten buttercup summers ago
woven- gilt strands spiraled above
dual attraction,
moments fanned friendship
into smoke of commitment and
passion strewed
petals on beds of sweet yield.

 

Nine daisy seasons back we
picked scented happiness when,
defences fallen,
meadows of floral nectar ended
aloneness and love
waltzed thru' former convention
without taking note
of doubt's regret or retreat.

 

One winter-grief ago cold
wilted growth, buried treasure
and brought an end
to love's beautiful garden, yet
rainbowed in mem'ry
those flowers still hold a tinge
of that bold fearless 
specialness giving achieved.

Your poem depicts a loving journey ending in grief by showing a celebration of that person's love & life. Anyone would love to imagine that his/her life could be remembered as all this! The first sentence of each verse is the height of clever, imaginative, original word-crafting. Such a startling fresh change from saying "ten years ago" (or whatever)!!! *smile* Fondly, Margie
