Isle Of Skye

__Isle of Skye__

Blinking bearing billowing breeze breath bask

Turn of head day turns to night

Strobe flash witness dusk to light

Drawing depone dirt drafts domes develop

Seasons flicker swift descry

Mounding mass mounts magnify

Sun spiral streaks wraps ribbon across sky

Bursting bellows magma flies

Scent of sulfur sting to eyes

Scoria streams send shifting surface slides

Birthing island pon my stride

Liquid land expanding wide

Touching temperate tears toss tumbling tides

Seaside steam stacks drifting glide

Misting peaks of mountainside

Sunlight streaks suffuse steeped shadowy shade

Cold clutch cast of seasons change

Winters white veil wrapping range

Crushing caps crashing crunch collapse cascade

Ice flow sculpture scrape abrade

Sunrise smiles grace melts away

Dashing divine diorama display

Strange but I can hear a Seanchai declaiming this in his particular singsong way. First of all thank you for honouring my work and secondly this is so evocative of the place and of a time. Excellent work.
The first two lines in the Gaelic for you as a thank you.
A ’bualadh air a’ bualadh le gaoth a ’tarraing troimhe gu h-àrd bidh a’ thionndadh gu oidhche

I loved the way you used the language. Making the reader believe and see every statement. The use of description was outstanding. Thank you Robert for sharing the amazing poetry.

You did well. Ken is amazing.
Great alliterative poetry. I really like alliteration, but balk at using it myself, harkening back to my creative writing class when any three word or more alliteration in my writing returned a page bleeding with red editorial snark from my professor.

This is a delicious mouthful of nature gone surreal,
magical and mystical, and an awesome allowance
of alliteration.

"Seaside steam stacks drifting glide" love this!

thank you kay, so very much i want to see this place now:)
Yes, I know that very magical painting by our oh so talented Ken! Both of you shamans coming together is a cosmic event for sure. I am astounded at the intricacy, the complexity, of your weaving of this tapestry of a poetic masterpiece. Alliteration, assonance, metaphor, mad rhyme and primal cadence- more a wild thing being born, erupted. Glaciers eroding rock walls into the fantasy sculpture of a mystical isle. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the wilde wind of Skye be always at your back Bad Bunny ( and Ken’s of course)! ...I bow to you both.

Ps I love your new picture:)
Lovely, Robert. This has the feeling of one's emotional response to something seen. The explosion of feelings...the emotional outpouring that is not easily expressed. The phrase 'turn of head day' is inspired and makes a poem begin percolating in my head. My mind/heart wonders what that kind of day would look like and then just gets to painting it in words.

I think poems inspired by the work of other artists are some of the best. Souls connecting through different mediums and translating the encounter through the creative impulse. I really enjoyed this. The wind feels like a soundtrack--it is living.

I can see this poem being resisted on a smoky stage.

You might have to dig through the cedar chest for a burgundy corduroy jacket (pipe optional glasses a must) and spread your art to the willing.

P S if you need it I still have my 1979 matching velvet vest, also optional. :)

That first line is electric.
