Eclipsed

Eclipsed

A Poem by Robert Trakofler

__Eclipsed__

Tell me of the splendid moment

That I might shed this wretched guise

This cloak I wear of atonement

That hides my aspect from your eyes

Speak of the time of naked touch

To steady a friends trembling hand

And cradle our affections lush

Freed from the gauntlets of disband

Show me the rise of this new dawn

When the suns hues our faces kiss

And hearts curtains no longer drawn

From the shadow of fears eclipse

dear Bunny... often the sun creates a romance with the Moon.
It creates such a brightness that we cannot see the phases
of a heart's desire. There are storm clouds to hide behind...
but when the two reconcile, there will be Peace and Goodwill.
truly, a radiant wish bestowed in the darkest of moments.
As ever, Pat

Well I jumped in and found that it felt as if you were asking to be shown, told and spoken to..that.your idea here is a feeling of helplessness and that we are suffering and hiding and our heart's curtains drawn ..it is a time when we are either in or we are rather out of this shadow...to prick our own for another's suffering and bleed gives us a truth to our humanity, it suffers not for the questions of leadership but looks deeper into our own purpose and perceptions of what we've built or lost which is in actuality everything and nothing at all...You've asked here to be told of the "splendid moment"..isn't that all of what should be within and obvious to the observer? Isn't that where we're all evolving day by day?..good turn around with the ending. A shaky hand a friend and a new day...All with a Lord Byron-esk flavor. I thought deeply on this one and that is the essence of good poetry ...She does indeed..walk in Beauty iMr. Bad Bunny~ Thanks!

O Dearest Robert
I am so much awed by your works that I have begun preserving your poetry in my journal. This one is no exception. The 2nd stanza genuinely moved me. The longing for the 'naked touch to steady a friends trembling hand', reminds me of the helplessness we are facing in these grave times; our inability to offer a hand in help. And the 'gauntlets of disband', words testifying the current situation of the entire mankind.
And sanguine as always, it is so full of hope. Please keep inspiring.

Always there.😊
This is great Robert. Real and metaphorical eclipses are events of great wonder and significance. They are also inevitable. How often do we skulk in dark when all we want is our moment in the sun .
Take care

I think we are all eagerly awaiting the moment when we can throw off the burden of this moment in time and move into the new world that awaits us. It’s amazing how quickly everything can change and how much we can anticipate what will follow this.

We need the eclipse. We need the freedom to step back into our roles and continue fulfilling them in the best ways we can. We need the liberation of human intimacy without fear to return. I wonder how indelibly our world will be changed. How we will think of each other and the stranger when all this is said and done.

You poem reaches toward a return and let us hope we manage that and not merely some strange new world where being close enough to shake a hand or give a hug is taboo.

The eclipse will come and when the sun returns the beauty of all things will shine again and we’ll be able to shed our fear. We must.

A thoughtful and mournful poem, Robert. But as is inherent in your poetry, I see hope.

Wonderfully presented imagery to show how we all wear these shackling gauntlets at this testing time - - an impressive appeal Robert for the time when fear's curtains are no longer drawn. Great read.
