This certainly is deep and takes multiple reads to decipher. I think being alone gives us a choice to go to the positive or negative. To find solace or agony. Perhaps it's a paradigm shift for those who are looking to go in a better direction from their former selves.

My Soul seeks Solace as I Shrink like a Violet and Sing 🎶 like a Canary... I hide behind a Mask and beyond Spring... I will pick a bouquet of wild flowers and lay with a Pawn in a warm Spot and play Chess to Kingdom Come. tenderly, Pat
For me, your poem describes the trajectory I went thru as I learned to love solitude these last 10 years. All our lives, we have so much noise along our paths, not realizing we depend on noise to blot out the incessant nature of the human mind. So when you get to a profoundly long-lasting stretch of being alone, all that mind chatter can drive a person nuts, until we learn to tame it, but it won't be stuffed, we have to listen to it first, understand it, & we discover we haven't really been living our truth all these years. This is similar to what my 10-year journey felt like & I feel sympathy to those who are thrust into -- not just solitude -- but STILLNESS, too (not going places & skittering about). I can't imagine how hard it would be to compress my 10-year journey into just a couple months (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I really had a crash course on it but in the end I found some gifts to it
The Silence of a Silver winged Bird
can be a Social distancing where Secrets
whisper in Sunsets symphony.

I loved the complete poem.
"A soliloquy of silence
Shrieks my semblance to ghost
Strikes a cognizant defiance
Stealing self’s willing host"
The above lines. I felt the struggle and the place. Thank you Robert for sharing the amazing poetry.

This is what we try to do Robert. Maybe our words can awake a memory or place?
Well Rob, this is simply, satisfyingly stunning. What I really enjoy about your poetry is the new words I learn ... like "solfeggio" ... never knew what that was and as someone who cannot read a note of music I thank you for the education.
Well stated.

What he was doing in the sparsely populated podunk town I spent my early years in, I will never understand:/ but his name is listed on the liner notes of many great jazz records including Miles Davis and Coltrane:) he was a music encyclopedia and he did teach me my first drum lessons but more importantly he fanned my love of music

I do have a love of music of all types, spanning the era from Big Band to now. Now really a fan of some of the modern developments, but there is value there as well I guess. I do tinker a bit on guitar but hard to work in the necessary practice to improve.
the lonely thing is a nasty one and I wonder, if things continue over the coming winter just how many more poor souls will succumb to the worst of it

Talk about alliteration....a tongue twister to read aloud! There is a lyrical feel to this poem. Loneliness is an illness....one too many suffer with. However, solitude I believe is something every person needs occasionally....as long as it is chosen! Quite the choice of vocabulary in this one, Robert. I feel as though I should read it three or four times to peel off the layers of the onion! Lydi**
