Head Lines

Head Lines

A Poem by Robert Trakofler
"

The I in this is a we... we are all feeling this way it is a personal thing but it is also a universal feeling. Spoken word link in notes section as always thank you for reading and or listening to me

"

Head Lines

This absence of normality

Strife stealing my head lines

Sways the specific gravity

Of my motions incline

I’d grieve this new reality

If it would stay defined

Erratic state mentality

Making me lose my mind

I’d scream untold profanities

But they’d be wasted lines

A virus has no proclivity

To catch my grand maligns

I sit here in captivity

In sequesters confine

And ponder the audacity

Of a thing I cannot find

I’m wishing that I could be free

To hold a hand entwined

Again embrace humanity

And let my heart unwind

I fear I lack the poetry

To touch you with my lines

I strain within my artistry

To fill our hearts sublime

Cute! And there was a time when cute poetry made me want to fight people, wear a dreadlock wig, sail away to some far off land. But poems aren't fables where the good jester in his coxcomb cap adorned with the red stripe, sings winsome songs to his Gypsy lover. Poems are unsophisticated, solemn truths, often mistaken as blood or drugs or the want to jump off the nearest bridge..They are never portioned out like the salt of the Nomads.... fabulous.....dana.

People need people is more than a over used line, hopefully at the end of this road we will discover that. the bad thing politicians and the media no longer use the headlines to inform but to manipulate. So there is no better time than now to cling to the writing of our friends.

To leave before our time... would not be what I
hd in mind. I had planned to paint with strokes of
vivid romantic skies and birds on fence-posts...
but 'alas I am confined inside my home with sneezing fits
and the "pits" of peaches either too green to peel or
over-ripe. Our closest Peach Orchard was given up for a
high-rise building that doesn't fit in with the beauty of the
Country-side. Will we ever learn... sadly, Pat

Strife, disease, unemployment has all hit us at the very same time. Confinement just adds to the frustration. Art is our only outlet at this point. So lets keep connected with our words.

good luck to them ,, and hey, you know ya always welcome Robert :)
Well stated Rob. We have been robbed of a great deal and the sad truth is there is no answers from scientists or politicians that do not change on a minute by minute basis. The uncertainty is what is driving
people to anger.
Come up with an idea and stick to it ... that's all we ask.

This being forced to be apart is like solitary confinement and cruel and unusual punishment.

Take care my friend ... be safe.

This may be my favorite poem of yours ever. I absolutely loved the read of it. These lines, especially, spoke to me:

I think you echo the frustration of the masses in this heartfelt write of frustration about our Covid buddy. Life feels unreal at times even when many restrictions are lifted. Once again you intertwine clever word play.
