And so Began an Authors Life

I gazed the blushing summer sunset sky

as stars revealed amongst the final rays

and many planets beamed before my eyes

their moons revolved to dance in grand ballets

when I was nine alone in my back yard

and pacing circles in my swimming pool

To make a vortex to float to the stars

Instead the heavens came to this young soul

Beguiled I watched this great celestial scene

My joy was tempered with the somber grasp

That I’m the only witness of this beam

I dashed inside to share the starry cast

So sad I searched the empty house and cried

I ached to give this gift that I have spied

…And so began an authors life

Whatever you create comes from a very special heart .. and vision - really does!
Might have to read and listen to again.. and again.. because I think this poem -
its words and listening have touched me most of.. ..
Don't know. Perhaps the reason why .. perhaps the waiting need to be noticed ..
whichever, whatever.. you ARE the author, Bunny!

I think this is now my favorite of your poems.

NOTE – correction: "I gazed [at] the blushing summer sunset sky"
Or: "[Gazing at] the blushing summer sunset sky"

I know but it would be the wrong syllable count for a Shakespearean sonnet if I changed it:/

Ever see the movie Stand By Me? When the kid sees the deer? Its like this little magical moment that we get sometimes. that is what your poem reminded me of. Or the movie American Beauty. just these little moments where we touch the universe.

That's a great way to start writing if you ask me. Connecting with others who appreciate and understand where others might not is where the power of writing really benefits us.

Lovely in content and wonderful in form, (especially loved the clever little rhythmic joining of lines two and four in the first stanza,)

Absolutely my kind of poetry Robert.

I think poets write in their minds and hearts long before they put a pen to paper.
And that is why many of us write of our youth and the beauty we saw way back then and way back now.

A mystical vision at age 9! I can see why one would be eager to share it with others. Alas, the house is too often empty when we have something momentous to say. Still, if it impelled you to write, the day was not lost entirely.

Absolutely gorgeous imagery here Bunny. Love this sonnet. At nine years old you were gifted with a sight you just had to share, it created so much joy in you. Alas there was no one to share it with, but now you have many who will appreciate fully your love of poetry and your desire to pick up your pen.
