Away Today

Away Today

A Poem by Robert Trakofler
"

more about survival

Away Today

Did you see the distant dying eyes
Looking back as scenes roll by
Of the times he smiled and cried

Watched them go and fade away
Like tiny pictures turning grey
As my mind began to fray
Away away away now

The fragments milled about the sky
Stealing my sight my how and why
my sense of self, could not descry

as the pain began to fade
a resignation starts to play
that I have seen my final day
away away away now

my heart still beats, upon the poetry
like the prayer beads, of a old rosary
in old planted seeds or in their future reads
your love

away away away away now
you’re here to stay now
the love surrounds you

today today today I live now
how I survived, I’ll never know

of how the fragments recombined
from my lifeless broken mind
of how I breathe on borrowed time
so I write these lines today
I hope that in my humble way
That I somehow can convey
this grateful hearts display
And I vow to share this grace
Of all the beauty in this place
In my gratitude’s embrace

Away today away today now
I’m here to stay now

Hello, Robert! :)
This reads like a dire winter melting into a warm spring. Bunnies belong to the spring, symbolizing renewal, surrounded by flowers, and always ready to get it on. You belong to recovery, so you better surround yourself with beauty and get thumping. Haha
This is lovely poetry. Be healthy, and keep sharing, please.

Ahhh, Robert, My Dear Fine Friend 🤜✫🤛

With such grace and humbling gratitude, the timbre of your graciously skilled words dance upon the floor of my most thankful heart and soul ⁓ that you've returned, and not only returned, but with a pen filled to the brim with stardust amplitude, the likes a master's deft touch has ne'er before shown.
I can almost envision you floating in mid-air, as if your spirit has been lifted upon the wings of life, itself, conveying such beauty in poetic reverence and revelry to every breath God hath bestowed.
In my humble mind's-eye, Dear Robert, this is your magnum opus, that should be inscribed into a golden tablet and framed upon your wall for all to see.

You're lookin' fine as sparklin' wine, with a smilin' style that all the while sets hearts aglow that love you so … welcome, home, Poet Sublime … happiest brotherly HUGS! ⁓ Richard 🍃

Well, thank God you survived your medical ordeal and are back to your wonderful self and your profound, personal, evocative poetry. This poem/prayer/song takes us through your terrible journey in deft rhyme, use of repetition, imagery, symbolism, musicality, metaphor... Hoping 2022 will be happy, healthy and hopeful for you. Take good care and please follow doctor's orders.
Sending blessings, love, peace & healing light always. Yes, you are here to stay now, and better than ever-Kudos!

Love you xo
A wonderfully written piece here Rob. Filled with sincerity and gratitude. You are grateful to be here ... as we are grateful to have you back.
This one is pretty much straight forward ... the rhyming works well ... the first two verses set up the scenario perfectly.

Our prayers for a full recovery.

Take care my friend!

I may never have my heart back to full strength again but my heart is full again
First, one day when I see You I will steal your dimples and paste them on my cheeks! second, since it's now I hear your SONG! oh my dear Robert.... it's more far beautiful as You sing it... more breathtaking, sincere...heart touching... tears fell from my eyes! I couldn't but remember our friendship journey, I wouldn't take it if You never returned... another loss I wouldn't take it.... Thank You for coming back to us all❤️

I'm so glad to see you back at it. This poem is filled with life. You look wonderful, fresh as a daisy. :)

That fading light that comes to all
has brushed against your face.
Waking up a restless soul to thank our God and live. :)

oh i like that...
That fading light that comes to all
has brushed against your face.
things that take us down in life, in my opinion, can be the most saving of experiences .. we should all take seriously the precipice line we walk daily .. moment to moment .. Hollywood gets this one right, says i .. an everyday stroll .. the birds are chirping .. the sun is warm and the breeze gentle .. then swoops the nightmare and one is gone .. taken in an instant .. it's the gratitude i feel the most in your poem Bunny Man .. the struggle and conflict of maybe just giving up and tactile glimmers of hope and faith .. so glad you are on the mend ... for me an emotive, personal and relatable poem .. keep working the program my friend .. praying for you now!

A fine poem, dear Robert. The body may be wounded at present but the words certainly aren't. I am sure poetry will be important to improving your health and state of mind. This one read almost like a choral song with it's repetition throughout. So, well done for churning the words out again. Stay well and work your way back to the Robert we all know. Happy and healthy and rocking the fedora! ⚘
