Hushed

Hushed

A Poem by Robert Trakofler

Hushed

And the music

must be getting

rather boring

in heaven

when they took you

And now the world

in its sorrow

feels just a bit

more hollow

without your voice

And their blue skies

must not of shined

its sights imply

quite as fine

without your smile

and now the world

in your shadow

glows just a bit

more sallow

in the lost

beam of your eyes

and we knew this time would come

when days would grey

and long to feel… your touch

your songs refrains

will still remain

although its chorus will be… hushed

a deference in sustain

that soothes the souls…

you’ve brushed

This is such a musically touching tribute with word-notes so well played dear Robert. David Crosby led a life well-lived and twice over. His genius could not be contained and his music will live forever. “Music isn’t something you can legislate into being.” Amen. R.I.P.

So many wonderful musicians and artists have passed this way. When I think of God, I first consider God as the Creator, the Master Artist; wholly Spirit and truth in art. When I first heard that we were created in that image, I immediately thought of man's ability to create, craft and make things that were not there before, whether a tool to serve a purpose or a pleasing aesthetic to delight the senses. These are labors of love and creativity. It takes no talent to be crude or mean; no talent to be destructive or ordinary. We hear much blame and excuse heaped upon "human nature". But I believe human nature is merely the animal and physical nature of our being. It should not be the height or zenith of our aspiration but only the base foundation we are given to begin with. I believe "human nature" is not the thing we were created and destined to become but the thing we were created and destined to rise above. There is a line in scripture which says we were created gods but deny that power. That is a very sad state of affairs for humankind. Perhaps if we spent more time creating and less destroying; more giving and sharing with less grabbing and taking we might be able to fulfill, at least to some extent, our true destiny. I enjoyed reading your poem. Thank you for the inspiring, albeit poignant, affection caught between these lines.

A creative and lovely tribute to David Crosby, who I have listened t many times over. Your voice shows us the emotion felt when he died... we are all in his shadow now, humming his tunes over and over...the sky is not blue anymore..."hush"

You brushed my soul with your ink. The day will come when so many lost souls sink the world into shadow, but then you write of the music that creates the light to find balance. This was a nice meloncholy walk out of the shadows, on the path to hope!

the only thing that inspires me almost as much as reading poetry is a good tune:)
Wanted to find out more about David Crosby and did so via Ken's review,. Will do a great deal of listening, thank you. That said, what controlled subtlety and awareness you set in and with your words, dear Bunny, sir

Whatever age we reach, there is some great person - in this case in music, who passes on and for however long known, touches one's own mortality. Music/sound endures from cave dwellers after all! You know these things because you love sound, lyrics, music, This tribute is wonderfully put with great respect and great pleasure derived.

Brilliantly put, wonderfully what you wanted and found, dear friend.
Hi Bunny,
Though I am not familiar with the late musician, I loved this tribute for the gentle hush with which it envelops the reader's soul. How immortal is the beat of love and the touch of memories. As always, you fill our hearts completely with your words. I hope you have been very well, my friend. ❤

Another one bites the dust.

Always sad when a favourite musician passes over. I have to say it is becoming more frequent now with the advancing years. Maybe with a bit of luck we’ll all meet again in heavenly pastures. Good to read you. I have just seen your post about a certain furry creature, so must do my best Robert:)

My immediate thought - and it appears I was right - was David Crosby. I was listening to 'Lay me down' the night he died. He was a great singer-songwriter...and this is an excellent poem to write as a memorial to him. Your friend gets a nod from me as well.

Great writing, Robert.

I love this concept. Gives me a great feeling of positiveness. And at our age its what we could do with if that is not too morbid a statement.
