Today I’m 54

Just a silly scribble on my birthday

Today is the day
I turn 54
And the lines I display
Might say somewhat more
And the state of my grey
not as keen as afore
and the step in my sway
gets a little more sore
and the choice on my tray
could be a bit more
and the weight that I weigh
is a dubious score
but it is safe to say
it might be somewhat more
but today is the day
and all of you… I adore
from the fracas and fray
and the bothersome snores
from the sneeze that you spray
the left socks on the floor  
and the things that you say
that leave me wanting for more
for you are the bouquet
that makes life living for

First of all, sorry for being a latecomer! Happy 54. Hope you had a blast!
Silly scribble but smoothly conveys the bitter-sweetness of our aging process, although birthdays now scare me a lot.
However, the words managed to remind me that we must treasure small moments, celebrate the journey, and cherish the people who make life special despite the imperfections.
Here's to many more years of adventures, laughter, and poetic musings!

What a fun romp on your birthday. Happy Birthday. I'd say I wished I was 54 again but I was working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week then, so, no. I'm enjoying retirement. But I need to go fishing. There's never enough time for fishing. ;)

we made it about half way thru the meal before the kidlings went mad and decided to find entertainment by looking at the aquariums in the lobby amusing the people waiting for a table and the staff working the front counter LOL
