Seventeen

Seventeen

A Poem by FlamingPhoenix
"

...from a boy to a man...

"
I cannot look back
The past cannot be reclaimed
I cannot focus on what I lack
Or nothing will really change

I can live in the here and now
Today is when I can be emotionally present
I can be empowering without knowing how
You will forgive everything that you resent

I must let go and allow you to grow
The future is yours for the taking
I must ponder carefully the seeds I sow
Though this reflective mother's heart is aching

I'll love you for always and for forever
Through all the yesterdays and the tomorrows
I'll cheer from the sidelines through all your endeavors
I'll trust that my guidance has taught you what you need to know
