I Was Just Trying To Help

I Was Just Trying To Help

A Poem by Dominik D. Ravens
"

Tried to help a friend the other day and it only upset her and she acted selfish, so I'm letting her go.

"
I told you I was sorry,
but you just nodded
and sank through
the calm surface-
ghosts moving water.
We submerge ourselves
to escape the world
above this aqua wonder,
but while I'm swimming,
you're sinking farther
and I can't find you
in those murky depths.
You say you're dying,
but you just float there
at the very bottom
pretending you're hopeless
and letting the sharks
torment you in the dark.
I just wanted to pull you out,
but your teeth are sharp.
If you won't even listen,
then don't dare say you tried.

Sometimes, you just have to let go of people if all they do is ignore your help and hope that they find themselves on their own.
