I Might Have Loved You

I Might Have Loved You

A Poem by Foxx Falcon

Were it the first day of Spring,

When soft is the grass, and fresh is the air

In a time such as this

I might have loved you

Had the night not passed so swiftly,

Should the moon have taken her time in rising

Basking in the silver light

I might have loved you

If I were still that child

Walking alone upon the easy wide mouthed paths

With such innocent wonder

I might have loved you

Had you come for me in my wishing days

When all my gold filled a well

Enchanted with your romance

I might have loved you

Were things any way except as they are

If I could but bend the world to my will

Awake in this moment

I might have loved you

Spring has passed,

The moon hides her face in darkness,

Childhood has fled

The wishing well no longer believes in me

Within shadows I sleep in silence

Dreaming of the days

I might have loved you

As you have always loved me

I like how the descriptions of the surroundings set to appreciate the moment.
