Dialogue of Darkness

Dialogue of Darkness

A Poem by Fran Marie

Looking to my heart for answers

      ' tis but to chase an empty dream
for the heart ~she only knows how to lie

                       to safeguard feelings..
protection tucked inside
her safety valve ever so neatly

                       secrets kept within each beat

I seek to converse with her
   about things such as love

                   ah, but the heart she is in denial..
she pretends not to hear
            for to speak of these things

                          sends shivers of sadness
as loneliness resides there~

she has  no voice
 nor conversation left
                                    within
  her private chambers

and her only response is
                             a dialogue of darkness

"for the heart ~she only knows how to lie

This poem has really fired my imangination Fran - the heart is so often portrayed as victim not a co-conspirator - its a brilliant unique take (well to me anyway).
I love the intrigue in this one.

I really like that painting of the shadow heart:) My heart is a defiant creature too. Seems comes a point when the chamber would rather be empty than to feel the pain of emptiness again, if you get my beating dear Fran! what an awesome and clever analogy in these lines:)

Thanks Robert
I s o appreciate
your kind reviews
on my poetry;
matters of the heart are never easy. secrets, denial, sadness, no voice, darkness - ouch. she certainly has tucked away an awful lot. it must be deeply searched to find those elusive answers ... :)

Thanks Pete
I appreciate your
kind words on my poem;
The heart never accepts what life throws its way. No voice, it exists in a void. I love the way you wrote this.

Many thanks,.so much appriciated...
simply said with vulnerable intimacy ... emotive enough to almost make my face start to blush ... like seeing in too deeply to those secret places ... so ..well done for me! solitary scene that makes darkness an entity .. i like this a lot!

Thanks so vey much for reading and reviewing...I so appriciate it;
This is beautifully written Fran Marie. I love the way you have taken the emotion of being left without emotion, and shown the emotion of being that person, with the safety valves in place to protect her from any more hurt. I think we can all relate to those safety valves. You also wrote this so softly and gently, not in anger, but almost graceful acceptance of this is how it is and has to be. Beautiful.
