Wishing Well

Wishing Well

A Poem by Fran Marie

Wish me well
Old Wishing Well
These coins I toss
my dreams to tell

Once I wished for things
far fetched
'tis only one rainbow,now
which I seek to catch.

Wish me well
Old Wishing Well
I'm seeking to retrieve
treasures of my destinies

Bring back those things once lost
in my heart at any cost
'lest my treasures become Miseries

Wish me well
Old Wishing Well
my wish come true I yearn
I once wished love be gone
now wish for its return.

'Alas 'Tis Wishing
       too little
               too late
                  I've learned

Your use of the words "wish" and "well" in this poem was very effective. "Wish me well/ old wishing well..." It's like a person is teetering on the brink. One on hand, they're about to plunge into the dark, cold water of their wish not coming true; yet, there is a sense of hope too. The hope is almost childlike:complete, whole, and trusting. I also thought that your use of the color lavender for the poem added to that innocent wish.

I think that your poem has a very strong message. It's asking people to examine their past and the mistakes that they might have made, though it is not written to be overly depressing. Good work!!

How expressive! Your use of words tell an excellent story and there is much emotion behind the piece....your use of repetition helps the reader understand what is behind the words: a pure tale of emotion and life lessons. An excellent read and a truly well written. Magnificent and well done.

I like how this poem rhymes and that it has a hidden moral to it, which is to wish for something you can't get. I also like the purple font color. Purple looks so much better than red, because it looks darker and cooler. Red makes papers seem more important and angry. Although there are no rhyming patterns, the poem is good overall.
