There are things

There are things

A Poem by Fran Marie

There are more things
to write about than the
secrets we hold inside
emotions we may want
to reveal yet we choose

                  to hide

like a rushing tide tearing
into shore; a flood of words
 are there to be heard
yet, when thought of better
we.cannot utter a single letter

                   nary a word

we seek instead a soft flower's flair
so fair swaying 'neath a summer sun
or moonlight`s silken glow
chasing merriment that we may hold
the moments dear and not speak of

                  such things we may
                              know

This entire piece is breathtaking, but what made it even better was the rhyming. It was so spot on and so catchy, adding to the depth of the poem. It’s like each word was made for each other. It can be so difficult to write when your upset but sometimes it just pours out! If only it could always be like that. But when it does pour out, it’s the best feeling in the world.

Your poem reminds me of the journey that a young writer may take from the starting point, blurting out those tender roiled-up feelings unvarnished . . . and then gradually being able to craft such intensity into sparkling symbolic imagery (((HUGS)))

Thanks Margie so very much for your
reviews on my poetry ..i so appreciate;
...A poignant glimpse and a pleasure to the ear.
It speaks to where we live, at-once in a discombobulating world and in the privacy of our minds, two places that don't often intersect.
Thank you :)

This is so true. We like to say or write about happy notions, soft notions, that are not harmful to our inner being. But sadness, pain, struggle, brain fog, delusions. when it comes down to what is truly going on inside, we tend to hide deep in our core. We can't write a word. We somehow can't reveal our emotions; it's as if our psyche is about to explode, so much is hidden. I think this is very true, not only of poets ad writers, but generally speaking of al of us at times.
Beautifully written.
Best, B.

Thanks so very much
Many times we try to avoid tapping into those deep swelling thoughts and emotions because our feelings are too raw and open to be penned on paper. And sometimes we do write about the allowing the flood to break the dam.

I am much the same way. If it comes to grief it can take me a very long time before I post about it.
So beautiful and I agree dear Fran.

I loved the meaningful words above. We must write about the things. That make the heart dance and the mind wander. Thank you dear friend for sharing the outstanding poetry.

So right dear Fran Marie we hold on to much that has hurt us. I have written poems which are not for publishing. This is a beautiful poem, lovely poetic expression and its meaning touched me. I understood.
