No Mercy Shown

No Mercy Shown

A Poem by Fran Marie

like scents of honeysuckle,
 a moment in time
filled a void
 warming a cold heart
to feel again and employ

 a gentle kingdom
    of new incentives;
to live again
throwing emptiness away
leaving depression felt pain

    pinned by winter's
stronghold on sadness
planning another storm
   with no mercy shown

If you can find that word mercy,
     in this cold world
 with salvation blended
sad hearts may then be mended

I like the hopefulness of this poem. It really speaks to me. My depression tends to get worse during this time of year. It's as if my heart recognizes the bleak coldness instinctively. This piece gave me a little bit of warmth to start the day.

A very profound poem. We must see what is wrong in this world in order to do what is right
