Hopeless (Romantic)

Hopeless (Romantic)

A Poem by Fraser Murray
"

Taking the piss out of myself for being such a lovey dovey moron. I need to grow up.

"
Days and weeks and months and years,
Screams and dreams and desperate tears,
Spliffs and pills and cigs and beers
And all the things that led me here
Were leading me to you, my dear,
Don't say that this is insincere
Or that the fantasy is clear
Because the truth within those words is the truth in all my fears

You're right, of course, I'm just being stupid
Guided by this pocket cupid
Whose arrows tend either to stray just a little beyond the bounds of sense
Forgetting my incompetence
Or lodge themselves in fantasy
In dreams that are too good to be
They use a phrase for fools like me, though recently I've noticed
If you take away the romance
There's nothing left but being hopeless.
