Waiting Under The Moonlit Sky

Waiting Under The Moonlit Sky

A Poem by Katrina Crago.
"

Abuse...

"

I’m alone

In the cold winters air

Blood all around me

No hope to be found

I’m crying

Tears are freezing to my cheek

I thought you were my only one

My soul mate

You hit me, beat me, and tore me down.

Said I deserve it

You took one last hit

And left for the last time

I dragged my body to the lake

Where you took what you wanted

My womanhood

My innocence

So here I lay

In blood layered cloth

Awaiting the cold hands of death

I hope he will be gentler than you

People asked me why I stayed

Why I put up with it for so long

I think I finally have an answer

I was in love with you

I thought you felt the same

I thought you were trying to fix me

Make me more deserving I was wrong

I just wish I could have realized this fate sooner

So now I’m here

Under the moonlit sky

Awaiting the fate that deserves me

For my icy death.

The emotional dept and fierce pain, I find soothing to be honest, perfect in your honesty, well done, good read.

OUCH!!! So very sad... you really speak how many abused feel...truth is those who abuse have low self esteem and do it to make themselves feel better. The abused are usually to ashamed to admit anything is wrong.

This poem is beautiful but rather mournful since you're writing about one's death. My favorite line out of the poem was, " So here I lay, in blood layered cloth. Awaiting the cold hands of death. I hope he will be gentler than you." It seems the girl was embracing the idea of dying and Death, the entity's chilling touch. The way you described death fascinated me. Can't wait to read more of your work.
