Walking With Ghosts

Walking With Ghosts

A Poem by Marie

We all walk with the ghosts of life;
the good times, the bad times,
the struggles and strife.
The chains of our past
rattle and hail
the fact we are prisoners
in our personal jail.
Memories haunt,
invading our mind.
A potpourri presented
of every kind.
We are their guests
while on us they dine.
These spectres of life
like a bitter-sweet wine.

This reminds me how experiences from the past haunts us in our present moments, when we are to make any decision, it clutches on our hearts as if we are making the same choice all over again, and then estimations of the future outcomes won't let us be in peace, so I can feel your title and your poems that is completely justifying it, these ghosts walk along us, within us, in our vicinity and even take possessions of the faces we see, haunting every time we pause, the lay open like a nap, I like the relations of chains and prison with past, that always makes it feel agonising.

The idea of ghosts dining on us is immaculate, sometimes overthinking and our thoughts taking a detour towards our guilts, it consumes all of our energy and will to move forward, it sometimes scares me what if we remain the same and the same things keep happening over and over again...

Such a provoking and heart rendering piece of poem there Marie!

Ghosts hunger for worldly things with their insatiable and poor souls. This is wonderfully crafted and insightful. Thank you for writing this.

Thank you for reading and for kindly commenting, dear poet. I am most appreciative...
Parasite apparitions feeding on our charitable exaggerations. The grass is always greener; the skies, bluer and the romancing jester so debonair and suave. It sounds better than carpet burned elbows and awkward, hasty encounters. Memories can make themselves heard but the dreamers often embellish the scenes. Maybe we blow things out of proportion or relegate important matters to passing whims. I enjoyed this most interesting write. F.

Marie! This should be on the front page of Writers cafe. An excellent poem I wish everyone could read for its wisdom. We all certainly have ghosts that haunt us throughout our lives and only we have the keys.

Excellent poem!
