Dancing Queen

Dancing Queen

A Poem by Marie

Satin pink, white, cream, black ballet pumps

Ribbons that twine on dancing feet

Lending grace to lifts and jumps

As tip toe measures out each beat

Now, a little faded, scuffed at toe

They ornament her bedroom door

Their presence keeps golden memories a flow

Of a time when she was queen and ruled the ballet floor

Ohhh....loved this poem. Such a pretty picture she must make and what amazing grace. I love ballet and even went to one by Nureyev recently. It was divine. You brought is all back to me, dear Marie. It all may be a faded now and not in use anymore but the accomplishments and the memories are going to last a lifetime. Lovely imagery and rhyming!

Excellent poeting, Marie 📝

Though, I'm a Boogie Woogie kinda guy, I love the amazing art of Ballet and the classical stories each performance portrays.
And, by choice of the the beautiful golden pointe shoes artwork, smoothly flowing lines, spot-on a-b-c-b rhymes, and vivid imagery, you've exemplified and breathed life into the memories of a past Ballet Queen, and into the enlightened pleasure of your growing following of Café fans, friends, and admiring readers … me amongst them.

Thank you ever-so gratefully, Marie, for the joy of sharing another of your stellar poetic pieces! ⁓ Richard🖌

This is such a lovely and nostalgic poem. The imagery of the ballet pumps and their delicate ribbons beautifully conveys a sense of grace and elegance. The poem’s reflective tone and the cherished memories it evokes create a touching tribute to a past era of beauty and accomplishment.

You're welcome.
loved this piece Marie, reminds me of a day when i took ballet, ouch, those ballet shoes hurt my feet; and as they hang on the door years later when we are older, the memories of dancing are precious and should be be kept precious to our hearts... I like the rhyme scheme and flow of the poem...

What a delightful poem - is more than visual and - for you, memorable. We should keep special items from childhood, even a few (what is a few?!) Dancing classes and the eagerness of a little girl trying to pirouette and recall how to do the ballet positions at the bar or free standing. Oh yes, yes, yes! You have brought back so many memories via your charming post. Have you been to a performance of The Nutcracker about Christmas time? Have been to see it almost more times than have had hot dinners! Children appear in it and if you watch them, can see the thrill and pride of being a ballet dancer. More than likely keeping their ballet shoes too. Wonderful!

Beautiful this sweet imagery of a loving memory that still seems to dance as gracefully as those feet these pumps belong to, how saccharine a ballad this for her days of youth when she used to be a graceful ballet dancer, to me this form of dance always reminds me of the struggle and relentless training and endurance they go through to be perfect at it and that how it always ask for perfection and precision till the exact point of your toe, they will always have huge respect in my heart.

I love how your poem expresses that these treasured souvenirs being worn out yet the memories they hold still renews their beauty and charms they used to have and how it once again replenishes the wholesome days once heartfully lived and you have decorated it so well with these rhymes my friend! Loved reading this poem Marie! Grateful to you for sharing it.
