Requiem For A Friend.

Requiem For A Friend.

A Poem by Marie

Wondering how?

Wondering why?

Missing you so,

sadly I cry.

In my life

for a little while.

In friendship we’d

Walked a golden mile.

Suddenly gone!

No warning there.

Missing your presence,
a true friend - so rare.

Feel you close, though

we’re apart … Yet

what was - survives.

There is no ‘Death!’

An intersection of grief and faith here. The friendship appears to have been a long and deep one, and mourning is the natural response to such a loss. The last lines, however, reflect a spiritual faith that death can't conquer. Such friendships are priceless.

Love survives there is no parting, your bond is so special Marie. Yet the heart pines for that warm hug which we so specially feel, its almost there yet not to wipe our tears. Lovely palpable loving feel what a poem! Stay warm and cozy my dear!

These sad words pull on the heart strings dear Marie. Partings for any reason can bring on a feeling of loss and grief. The essence of the missing loves, stays with you. It is not lost. Their spirit remains.
Have a peaceful Sunday dear poet.

I lived a soldier life for 15 years. I befriended many people and the soldiers never stay in place. Too long. Your poem reminded me of friends. I do miss. A lonely feel to your words dear Marie. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry. Good afternoon from Michigan.

Marie, Sometimes life feels raw. Even in our knowing what we know, our beliefs about life and death, it can still hurt, and we grieve. So sorry for your pain. You've got this, Girl! Sending you Light and Love, my friend. ❤

a very sad song that captures that feeling so vividly. the shrot lines suggest one is out of breath, the disbelief and shock is clearly present. i'm sure you share a lot of memories with this person but summarising it as :walked a golden mile, was full of pathos yet restraint. the final line is also full of poetic truth. it reinded me of one of my favourite poems Do not stand at my grave and Weep. there is no death, only brief partings and that is all there is to life. that we make the time together golden is our only shot at living life fully.
