Dancer in the dark

Dancer in the dark

A Poem by Rika

She moves in the shadows so gracefully and full of death

She expressed the language of her body; the language of her soul.

Not any Fear in her eyes, even though a white cloth was wrapped around them

She did not have to see beauty; beauty was not physical visage that is plastered upon something or someone

A cold steel blade came within inches of her neck, the wielder not having any remorse

The dagger was removed, collapsing in full force

As the Ripper of a man disappeared within the shadows he creeped

The dancer laid on the floor now in eternal sleep

Oh wow, the dance was torture wasn't it? I feel like you described something so brutal with something so beautiful. i hope it was from her point of view. that way her death could just be one act in the musical of her life. it would be a peaceful thought to die with.

How did I miss this?
Dark fantacy, made me think of an assassin or shinobi.
Well done!

Sounds like fear of death but yet
Bravery to lay down her life I could be wrong
but it is what I saw.

My great grandma was a ballet dancer I love dancing
so I was drawn to the title quite interesting.

The first stanza's lines are my favorite.

She moves in the shadows so gracefully and full of death

She expressed the language of her body; the language of her soul.

I can honestly say that I was not at all expecting that to be the ending. The end was as dark and mysterious as the begining, which left nothing but wonder about what happened. I really enjoyed it :)

I love it :) To me it isn't that she is a dancer but someone that isn't afraid of death and maybe the dance was almost like her continuing through life and then she was murdered and so she stopped living (dancing). and maybe she knew she was going to be murdered ..possibly

This piece is truly magnificent and impactful, specially as I love the movie "Dancer in the Dark" with Bjork! it always amazes me how much she is strong, even all obstacles surrounding her, she never gave up to dream and dare to act and to fight for her cause, living in so beautiful world of dance...Inner world. Your poem absolutely fits that expressions, very well chosen words and nice lines. In my mind the beginning remains so strong!

She moves in the shadows so gracefully and full of death
She expressed the language of her body; the language of her soul.

When I read the word Dancer, I though it was about one..I'm a dancer ..
But then, he was the one dancing around her with a knife and letting her playing the final act.
Well done..

This is a well written piece, with the sudden death of a dancer (didn't expect that to happen) I mean, why does it have to happen? But anyways, great piece that you have here. She sure danced her way to death without being recognized at all.
