It's Only Him

It's Only Him

A Poem by Gurdeep...The Lost

Tumri saran tumari asa, tum hi sajan suhele,     ||
Rakho Rakhan Har Dayala, Nanak Ghar ke gole.    ||

( I seek Your Sanctuary - You are my only hope. You are my companion, and my best friend.Save me, O Merciful Saviour Lord; Nanak is the slave of Your home.)

                                                                                  ~~Raag Dhanasree, The Fifth House,
Guru Granth Sahib Jee, Limb :674.

                                            It's Only Him

When the edge of the cliff of adversity it is,
Shattered, you ponder,"Why is this?"
As the emotional turbulence ails your soul,
With none by your side, whom do you implore?

And Oh the irony!, still you rely,
From your heart arises, a silent cry.
Mind questions the soul," Whom do you call upon?,
Benefactors,Samaritans, all are gone!".

"The Ocean of which I am just a drop,
On Him I contemplate; I cannot stop",
This the soul proclaims with might,
And brings that hidden hope to light.

On the cause of your existence, this hope does rest,
Who'll be the wonder gift, of your ultimate quest.
And to clash with the odds, as these exalt there,
A sweet pain is felt, which you savor and bear.

It's Him, it's Him, it's only Him,
In his sanctuary, there's no worry, no whim !
Guides Nanak, and asks to savor His Name,
As you shun your ego, and extinguish it's flame.

Reliance on the highest of the high,
Brings calmness, and comfort comes by.
There's a longing to enter His mansion huge,
and in His compassion, to take a refuge !

Beautiful! I like your ideas. I like the simple language used and also what you have tried to put forward.

"Save me, O Merciful Saviour Lord" Save me from what? From adversity? Is adversity not how we learn? What is the purpose of life but to learn? Life is a struggle. Do you wish to be saved from life itself?
And what is this adversity? Is it possible you stand against the tide? If you should throw away your desires and go the way the river goes would adversity dissolve? Does the world not go the way it must whether we understand it or not?
Yet, I am born a warrior and I must right a wrong if it stands in my path. Do not save me from the battles I must fight. Help me to win and I will make a sanctuary out of the world.

Thanks anne. Sometimes all we can do is just 'hope'. :-)
Its wonderful to be able to provide a sanctuary to another ... or to find someone who offers one. The fruit of the tree has as much a need to give as the roots need to receive.
