~~The world is a drama, staged in a dream, in a moment, the play is played out.

I DON'T WANT TO GROW
I This thought although queer, arises again and again,
Sometimes brings happiness and sometimes brings pain,
Of my memories glutinous which vivid have been; Without whose rumination, I seldom do lean, And as through the walks of life I trow; No, no, I don't want to grow.
II Where may or may not be fortuitous glee; Those jovial times will cease to be, What will be there shall demand fortitude, Here and there, the fastidious attitude. So, as through the walks of life I trow; No, no , I don't want to grow.
III The attack of worries as the expanse of sand, By the time which in ambush does stand. Shall filch away from me my spring, The ameliorating songs which in joy we sing. Then, as through the walks of life I trow; No, no I don't want to grow.
IV Will the same sun of amity shine? Will there echo the Auld Lang Syne? That running under the trees of pine, Those unforgettable memories of mine............ Oh!.......as through the walks of life I trow, No, no I don't want to grow.........
V My childish-self, longing for the caress of those beautiful hands, Plies my heart to distant lands.......... Here and there, 'tis gloomy, 'tis dessicated as a flower... To trow anymore it has no power, As me..........as through the walks of life I trow, No, no, I don't want to grow.
VI Though to trow, I haven't myself set; I shall be made to,made to yet. What do I say, adieu or ahoy? Moving away from my priceless joy.... And as through the walks of life I trow, I implore His mercy: May He help me to grow.........................
Ah childhood, dear childhood. I loved that repetition at the end of each stanza, and then it changed in the last one, and showed the meaning of it all. Change will come, growth will happen. This poem had a really nice flow to it, and I think it was that partly with gave it the right tone. A tone of depth. Nice poem.
WOW!! this is amazing! like it very much.. Auld Lang Syne! is one of my piano piece played when i was a beginner pianist :0 and i like the flow of words :) KEEP IT UP :)
Though to trow, I haven't myself set;
I shall be made to,made to yet.
What do I say, adieu or ahoy?
Moving away from my priceless joy....
And as through the walks of life I trow,
I implore His mercy: May He help me to grow
These are the lines that gives this poem a different level of understanding! We walk between the thin line of adieu and ahoy! lovely imagery too good and true!
so many imagery had been used in this poem that i ponder and believed to be true.
a wonderful image that fits the poem. Yes, changes is inevitable but that's part of growing up still memories of our childhood will remain in our heart and mind.
Its just awesome..............I too want to be re-live my childhood, as everything was so pure and carefree at that time ..........................Loved this poem...Excellent :-)
Insightful and brushed lightly with intelligent humor is this charming portrait.
Much enjoyed your gentle rant, Gurdeep, that, during its course, deftly turned reluctance into acceptance.
Very impressive work!
I do like this poem very much. We always rush life and then when we notice we passed by the years when we should've been living life we feel guilty. I think you done a quite wonderful job, also :) A lot can relate since we all would love our childhood back.
Great job once again:)
I marvel at the honesty and innocence of children, sadly we grow more aware of others and less of ourselves........... a wonderful thought provoking poem
I really liked this poem. Why do we fear change so much? Change certainly is inevitable and we are certainly doomed to grow. Thought-provoking stuff. Well done!
