When The Music Finally Stops

When The Music Finally Stops

A Poem by Beatles9322
"

This was written about when I saw Flyleaf last night in concert! 5/25/10

"
I sway from side to side,
Lost in the music that fills my heart.
Each lyric pulses into me fiercely.
I feel every chord and note that is struck.

How do I explain this feeling?
It's a type of high unmatched by any drug.
The hours fly by as each song
Flows smoothly into another and another.

The pictures in my twisted mind change.
I am in a meadow of sweet-smelling flowers.
The sun warms my skin softly
As I feel at peace with myself.

All at once, the pictures become black.
There is no song; no sun.
My world is empty and bleak.
I have no purpose in life.

A tormented soul am I,
Destined to wander the planet searching for light.
If found, the light will prove to be false.
The only true light shines in Heaven.

If I feel secure when the music plays
And my being is soothed and consoled,
What am I supposed to do
When the music finally stops?

Ah! The imagery in this poem is so beautiful and descriptive, I can almost smell the meadow here...
But then, the tragedy of this piece is again unbeatable...does the music always have to stop?
Its tragic :(
But you ended it perfectly, when it starts again...But I don't know why, I did not like the closing section a lot... Sorry :(
But overall, very well penned!

The power of music is awesome. It always has been and always will be. I don't even know who "Flyleaf" is, but I'm sure they do the same thing to you that the Beatles and Led Zepplin did to me. (And still do)

I love the last stanza. Indeed. And I think sometimes we have to look elsewhere for answers.
