"Clown Makeup". Who Is To Say?

"Clown Makeup". Who Is To Say?

I was wearing a dark green eyeshadow and a teal eyeliner recently. I paired it with a nude lip. I thought I looked good and pretty. I didn't see anything wrong with my makeup. My mother and I were talking about makeup and she said that she thought my makeup looked like "clown makeup". I was utterly offended. My makeup was expressive of who I am and my artistic feelings that day. Who is she to say that I looked like a clown? I've never seen a clown who can do makeup like I can, let me just say that. What is wrong with bright colors and fun makeup? Nobody can say that it is not classy, as many a Psychobilly woman wears bright makeup. It's a part of the fashion and the look. My mom says that the makeup that I wear isn't very professional. Keep in mind that I am 16. She says I can wear it now because I'm so young, but when I'm older I have to wear neutral makeup. Why? In a world where we are judged by appearances, how do we know when to stop "clowning" around?

How do you feel about bright makeup? What's some of your favorite bright eye products and lip products?

This is interesting. I thought it sounded more like a blog than a story, but I get the idea. My boyfriends sister cant stand the way I wear my makeup, but I agree with you. As long as you dont look like a hooker or act like one, your good.

i love wearing make up when i am able to blend into the environment -
like i'll wear make up for dance clubs or parties where i am dressed up
but i dont like to call attention and stand out with make up when i am at work
i would rather be acknowledged for my work than for the art i put on my face
perhaps your mom was trying to convince you that you do not need make up for your beautiful face
make up does have the ability to accentuate or mask what we really are
every one has their reasons and not every one is tactful in passing criticisms

Showing a little creativity with your style is cool, but in a career
environment it can be a bit much. It is okay to tone it down at work
but on your free time be who you want.

She may have hurt your feelings unintentionally, but I think she was
trying to prepare you for the future. It sounds like she meant well.

Well my 14 year daughter said it looks good. I try to stay away from the appearance of woman. I have three daughters and a wife. Each woman must find her desire look. Most men are here to just agree. The photo look fine to me. A interesting question.

Makeup is nice when you don't go overboard...
such as a Bozo the clown look to me it isn't that
appealing...Although Cleopatra wore heavy make
up a she looked smokin' lol..I enjoyed this little
write :)
