Nothing Changes

Nothing Changes

A Poem by Beatles9322
"

Written about my dad and family troubles. 2/18/11.

"
One snide remark from me sent you
Bursting into your room, tears
Streaming down your wise face.
I wish I could take that back.

Nothing changes in my family
Although I pray and pray for something
New and good to penetrate
My broken household.

Don't you think I would make
Things right if I could but
You forget that I'm seventeen
And you're fifty-two and my father.

Nothing changes day in and day out
Except each time it's a bit more
Intense and my heart is broken
Just a little bit more.

It's kinda supposed to flow like Jill Scott's songs. I felt the rhythm of her songs pulsing in my mind as I typed this out. The words just came to me. Not supposed to be brilliant.

It's hard for things like that to change. It's so easy to just keep the pattern of hurt and resentment going. My family just now got out of that rut that was started before I was even born! Keep your chin up sweetie.

Being young and not willing to move from your point of view. I miss those days. Took me 52 years to stay quiet. I learn arguments. No-one will win. Better to have civil conversation. I like the ending. A excellent poem. Thank you.
