Freely Independent

Freely Independent

A Poem by Beatles9322
"

For Eric!

"
Every day, we grow nearer to the end.
A sense of urgency fills my being
like a desperate soul stuck in quick sand.
You are pulling me toward yourself.
At eighteen, how sure can a girl be?
But a man in his golden 20's knows it all.
You recognize what you desire and
it becomes yours, no matter what.
This is not to say that you take all you can
and leave the poor in the dust.
On the contrary,
you are the living definition of
selflessness and grace.
As a grown man, yes, a MAN,
you lead the way,
making sure that I am respected
and freely independent.

A interesting read. I like the tone and the feel of this poem. I like the way you define a man. The poem had very good description and I like the ending. Thank you for the excellent poem.
