Sorry.

Written to my best friend for repeatedly damaging what I was trying to build. At some point you'll have to say...Sorry...

I’m sorry for my mistakes,

I apologize for my lies.

Though we give and take,

We always stay surprised.

 

Now I don’t expect anything,

Because everyone is different.

Although maybe you’re everything,

Because, you know, time on you…I spent it.

 

I make these poems conversational,

So that they really speak to you.

Try to be too controversial,

That’s something I find hard to do.

 

I’ve been wrong about so much,

And I’ve lied to protect us both.

It seems going along as such,

Has damaged our friendship’s growth.

 

It may not mean much now,

But hopefully you’ll know later.

I’m as sorry as any could allow,

So our crooked friendship will grow straighter.
