The Singing

The Singing

A Poem by George Coombs

The Singing

darkness,

night without ending

vast silence

where minds

pilgrimages

looking yet

no path

is this hell?

sense of fatality

then the singing

waiting

where time has

passed never to return

thought is alone

in this close night

Hypno’ personifies sleep

Thanatos’ personifies death

both said in mythology

to be sons of ‘Nyx’

personification of

darkness

then the singing

myth, a way of

saying things

uttering the unutterable

thought is alone

waiting...

a sense of singing

in darkness

gliding swan " like

to the open mind

waiting

for the other life

then the singing

Entering

path to waiting

light

Thanatos greeted

with great joy

mind journeys

onward

seeking and finding

hell waits where it is felt

where night will end

soul opens as a flower

young in innocent shining

then the singing...

I pick up on waiting for death in this poem. Being alone. The silence and then the singing of company and death awaiting. Sorry just my interpretation. Of what I understood. Very good poem. Sad and heartbreaking.
