A Ballad.

A Ballad.

A Poem by CatB.
"

It's slightly perplexing to imagine different cultures and their ways of dealing with the typical daily struggles, and some of the not-so-common ones, too.

"
She stared blankly
At the red moon
She wondered why
The face looked so sad
The crickets chirped
And the frogs sang
Through the entire night
She gazed at the jewel-like stars
She longed.
Rhythm drums and bells
And Arabian songs
Hips and belly dancing
Nothing went wrong
She longed.
The shakers shook
And the ringers rang
But she still wondered why
even in the day time
How the moon was sad
She wrote a book
In her native tongue
Of music and red sun
And days of celebration
But she longed.
Rhythm drums and bells
And Arabian songs
Hips and belly dancing
Nothing could go wrong
Yet, she longed.
When her story was done
And she had mostly all
She wrote on the final page
Of why she longed
Goodbye, she wrote
And so long.
My days on Earth are done
And these sad hours over
Because I know of only longing
Rhythm drums and bells
Making Arabian songs
were not enough.
