We Walk Alone...Sometimes

We Walk Alone...Sometimes

A Poem by Girl Friday (Sarah W.)

incandescent circling     this is life,

as we paint the sky like fluorescing insects

connecting the dots of constellations

buzzing     ever closer to a muted moon,

where our wax wings remain rigid     despite

their cynically crude construction

because living is sometimes knowing

the dull lull of isolation     it is trusting

our blindness (hysterical or not)     and

continuing to speak, even when

no one is listening     writing even when

our words are no longer being read

Holy cowbirds Batman! Girl Friday wrote a poem about me! She must be more sneaky than the Penguin and not at all a Joker with her poetry. We need to find out how she can write our hearts deepest ponderings. Maybe she has a bat psychic recording device!
I don't think the bat cave is secure any longer...
Same time next week...
I wonder if the readers will find us before it is too late?

(ok... Long day. Gotta give me a break. Ha.)
Loved the poem! Hit home. Really. I was deflecting do I didn't cry like a girl... ;)

Love it Sarah... the imagery is beautiful and intoxicating... but the message is deep and cuts down to my bone... as it's so true... there are so many moments when we feel so alone, even in a crowd... and like our words are mute... but we continue onwards... until light falls back on our bodies again and the sound is turned up and we are 'witnessed' again, a gift we give ourselves first.. well done, you've written about it beautifully :)

THank you so very much...I'm humbled!
The angst of solitude can echo in the hollows but because we are human we persevere even when no one is there to listen. It is still a poem even if no one reads it for it was created and read by its poet. This is very deep and thought provoking.

Thank you, my friend :)
I love how you construct such vivid imagery as it relates to your writing style. Your words remind me of those view master toys back in the day. I don't know if you remember those but each stanza is like another great image after you've pressed down lever on the right hand side. Great work again as always Girl Friday. Another riveting read. :)

These lines really touched me..I started writing at a time in my life when I felt isolated and alone, but writing - even though the words were never read somehow made me look forward to tomorrow.

There is so much depth to your writing. You have a very special gift.

Thank you, Julie...sometimes my own words are my only friends :)
We do find ourselves alone when we least expect it, maybe a test to make sure we are still strong on own own and remember who we really are.

Again your wording is in a league of its own...

So my pleasure.
yes, we write even if no one is listening or reading...but with each write we get a step closer to that moon that shines the knowledge of life down upon us...and we become just a bit closer to our purpose.

nicely penned...

Our purpose...I hold ture to that my friend. Thank you :)
It's depressing, really... isn't it? But, consider the brook that babbles to itself, hidden in the woods (lovely, dark and deep). Can a poet give it life, a witty voice and a measure of self-assurance such that it continues onward with the assistance of carefully chosen words, time and gravity? ...perhaps toward a more (seemingly) purposeful end? Never think your bounty goes unnoticed. Kiss me, quick.. I have bees to place.

:) A review that is more poetic than my poem...thank you my mysterious friend.
Even in this dark lonely place you shine Friday, your words are always metaphorically golden, I doubt anyone will ever stop listening, but I feel the angst there. There's solitude and then there's the loneliness of a poet's heart I think...we all yearn to connect on some deeper level, the 'sometimes' is telling, we all feel this way on occasion. Part of being the 'tortured' poet so to speak, brava, well done my friend!

The lonliness of the poet's heart...I love that you saw this, Frieda. Thank you so much!

You're very welcome Friday, I love the vulnerability you show in this one....
No creature can surround itself with others at all times, isolation is a part of life as we know it, it is only by embracing it can we truly grasp the silver threads of Living. I actually felt lonely just reading it (and I'm with like ten people right now)!

Great work!
