60 Minutes From Sunrise

60 Minutes From Sunrise

A Poem by Girl Friday (Sarah W.)

in metaphor you are perfection -

careless eyes cast down a narrow nose,

the hipsters would call you cool, but

I cannot seem to call you at all     anymore

some days I wonder if you are a delusion,

a hybrid creation of cross pollination

inside the mossy moorlands of my psychosis

but I am quite sure that one day you existed,

somewhere outside of me, because

I remember fragments of top-down drives,

lost scarves along the Pacific Coast Highway,

and moonlight     entire beaches glowing

with madness the color of hand-dipped starlight

you wear my words well     these days,

lines like tailored sport coats and jeans,

syllables giving texture to a phantom’s voice,

     this-is-forever, you said,

until it wasn’t, but I can still draw your smile

60 minutes from sunrise, between Castor and Pollux,

and that has to be enough     for now

I've never even met you but I feel like you wrote this to me.
Wow,that second stanza is sumchin else altogether.
You are unbelievable.

You knock down the anthill of my creativity.

Then build it again, thank you for writing this.

In the aftermath... Looking back, how so many meanings can change, when all that is left are the images in our minds, we give voices to, draw metaphors around... within that can the reason for forever-being-not, be found? This piece has the feeling of a painting, and I do feel as if I am standing on a sandy coastline, looking up at the stars, trying to remember a face in the dark, trying to remember what love was... Beautifully drawn, Sarah.

You are always inspired and forever inspiring. You don't fail at all. You just give words and emotions other dimensions. All your poems are in 3D. And to enter your world is to be lost and found, but never to linger too long. There is sadness and profundity that can shock a nation, let a lone a boy like me. xo

OOOhh! This is cool. Reading it aloud was fun for me and the poems I like best are always the ones that sound good outloud. The descriptions given are intricate and easily turn into pictures in the reader's eye. And in it, besides creating feeling you bring questions to the mind. Can you write something/somebody into something more or better than it was? What does this do to you?
Beautiful and enjoyable poem. Loved it!

ah, the mossy moorlands, soggy, cold before dawn, a good place to stash memories and read the stars

The whole poem is a criticism ; I believe people are not good enought to respect the art of writing or any form. This is how I feel about this poem and rest I dont know..

Brava!
I love the imagery hereand the great word selection. Sharp and concrete yet rising above reportage.
The first line is magnificent, such a wonderful description of the past perfect love who so magically fit the time and place.
Very, very well done.

Geminis can be fickle. ;-) Wow -- "inside the mossy moorlands of my psychosis." It reads like a rehearsal for a more substantive connection. Eloquent, as always -- "with madness the color of hand-dipped starlight." A tip of the hat - may our nuanced codings meet their match in the mysterious soulflesh.
