Electrifying

Electrifying

A Poem by Amanda Bokovoy
"

I love to watch thunderstorms. :) This is an oldie, from back when I tended not to use punctuation. Originally written February 28, 2004.

"

The air pulses with energy
I wait expectantly, eagerly...
Lightning splits the sky in two
Like a fiery, white sabre
And a moment later it is gone
I am dazzled and entranced
By the pure, raw power before me
Making the world bright as day
Hotter than the surface of the sun
Breathlessly, I await the next strike

This is really nice. Your metaphors are excellent - I like the idea of a lightening bolt being a "white sabre" wielded by some random god XD The poem's briefness was a good choice on your part too - it's there and then it's over, just like a lightening strike! Good job.
