The Tree on Calvalry

The Tree on Calvalry

A Poem by Steven Goodykoontz
"

This is my hero, Jesus Christ who died for me so that I may live in Harmony.

"

The Tree on Calvary

Where He hung

Is a testimony to what

Jesus Christ had done.

He took the wounds

And took the beatings.

Not once did he choose

To stop and begin the healing.

Stabbed and poked

Punched and chocked

Knocked around like a dog.

But still got up and moved on.

Why?

For me.

Jesus did this for me.

Why for me? I am wicked

You would take your life for me?

You would put your arms out on the cross

And have your hands pierced through and through

Just because you want me to

Have a life worth living?

Who am I to have such a luxury

From the son of the most high king?

Why can't it be I on that cross?

Let me life be my own loss!!

I deserve Hell and torture!

But you see what I can do for the kingdom in the Future.

I see why you died for me.

It was for you, and for those who are needy.

The sick, the blind the deaf

All need to hear this message.

Not only did you die for me.

You died for Humanity!!
You took the scars and left me with the healing.

Praise be to you.

Oh Jesus, who died on the Tree of Calvary.
