Memory Fading

Memory Fading

A Poem by Bexfinch
"

I felt like this for a while had to share

"

I still remember you
Like the sweet entrails of perfume
Dissipating into the air

The melting of sugar and cream
spinning spiraling smattering
my mind

I can still feel you
Like the amputee's lost arm
Invisibly there
An unseen entity in the hollow of my mind

The patter of your feet
The thumping of an impatient heart
Longing to feel again

The wound of an graceful endeavor
documented
by the scrawling on the wall

Archipelago, an isle
where my heart floats
standing on the plateau
mist kissing my dew bitten skin

I look into the distance
Searching waiting

Flashlights flicker
Giving me solace
Warming my weak resolve

Then it happens

You are luminescence
lighting my eyes
Sprinkling me with  star dust

I'm a child
Playing at your shores
again

We've met, your here, I'm here

but

   It's not nearly long enough
   Before I know whats happened
   You nod
   Throw up two fingers
    And leave

We live on two different parallels
Meeting for a whisper of a moment
Drifting farther apart

but

I still remember you
like a dying shadow
As our screen fades to black

This kept my interest the whole way though. A very mature voice is present in this piece. Gripping.

This is a very mature work. I like the phrases and metaphors and I also like the easy flow of the poem. Well done.
