Two Tables Down

Two Tables Down

A Poem by Grace Catherine C.

The warm wind in the starry sky blows sweetly through your hair,
and trapped inside your starry eye's beyong your thousand mile stare
is something, something secret,
something you dont dare to speak,
I hang on every word you give away
And yearn for those you keep.
I wonder if you see me, sitting here, two tables down,
I see you, for sure, but that's not hard, there's no one else around.
The place across from you is so wrongly occupied
They don't deserve your company, they don't deserve your eyes
The wind is blowing faster, the rain will be here soon,
the clouds are coming in now and blocking out the moon.
But you're content to sit and stare
And I'm content to stay right here
Until the rain starts, or the world ends, or the morning comes.
Your voice is like a songbird's as your words rush,
and I love the way the red wine makes your face flush.
Do you think we'll leave before the rain starts?
God, I hope not.
