A Day's Work

A Day's Work

A Poem by Grandmary

Tonight will be a victory!

I've made the plans

And danced the dance

My soldiers fall exhausted to their beds

With aching heads

The battle long and hard

Against the dust

Our cause was just

The cluttered counters

Are no more

Now lies the floor

Agleam in sparkling splendor

My chores are done

The war is won!

This makes me think about my mother and how hard she worked. Day in and day out, she never got a break. Oh, how I wish I had helped her more. Instead of spending all the money I earned on myself, I should have used some of it to make her life better. (Or easier) This poem is very nicely written.
