For my Father

My Father landed on D-Day as part of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion. He was captured and spent time in both Prisoner of War and Concentration Camps because he kept escaping.

  Remembrance today  

  Autumn winds blowing colder  

  Great grandsons salute

Ah what a nice Haiku Poem it is well crafted in the classic (American) style. 5,7,5, syllable count per line and a season is mentioned, many people miss the season... very nice. And, to make a tribute to your dad is touching. Also noted 3 generations are tied into this (no easy feat) the writer, you, your dad, and his grand sons, (your sons?)

Such a terrible experience for anyone to have to go through. I hate war. This is a nice short tribute to your dad. I especially like the last line. I'm sure that your family will pass the stories down to each generation, something that seems to be forgotten nowadays.

It's history up close and personal. There are many things I wished I knew about my grandfather's past. I try to tell my own children stories about their father (who is deceased) and his father. Also whatever I know of my side of the family. I think it's fascinating.
