Signs of Winter

Signs of Winter

A Poem by Graysin Angel
"

A tribute to the season.

"

snow flakes
fall like crystalline
dancers in a display
of sparkling light. the
wintery winds blow
frostbitten leaves
whose color
is a clear icy tan.
silence glooms over
the landscape and fires
crackle inside log homes.
icicles hang from edges
of roofs and cold drips
of water fall down in
continuous ways
like the ticking of a
clock. pine trees off in the
distance shows the greenery
contrasting the white fluffy stuff
that sits atop their limbs. nesting
birds hunker down while the bears
hibernate in caves waiting for spring.
new mittens cover hands holding on
to packed balls meant for those who
are laughing targets. the children's
breath is seen as they toss one
at dad while he is shoveling
the driveway again.
