The Adonis

The Adonis

A Poem by Cody
"

This poem is a giant metaphor. Love at first sight... it's about a boy.

"
The Adonis

When I walked down my path
I never thought that I would encounter a bridge.
Of everything on the other side...
Nothing seemed to shine but one:
Adonis.

I hated that the bridge was out that day
I was unexpectedly put on pause
I didn't think I'd have to stop and stare
For there you were...

Laughing
Free spirited
Full of hope
And with adventure

I sometimes wondered if you could see me
Or if you just heard the chatter of birds
In my thought-filled trees,
Which dropped of rain
And other things you we wouldn't miss

I wondered if - to you -  I was invisible
Or if you just wouldn't give a glance

As I waited I watched
And heard through every Twitter
You were about to move on
As I stayed across the pond

You had no time to waste
And your yearnings turned you around
It's not that you're impatient...
You just want to move on

It has been months
I'd waited
And watched
And stood

When the bridge was finally finished
You were already down the path
Down my line
The Adonis
