Listen One, Listen All

Listen One, Listen All

A Poem by Travis Gibson (poetic heroics)
"

for Ja'Vonni

"

listen one, listen all

lend me your ear...

bring your slim, your round

your small, your tall

i have something you all must hear

without further ado

i bring to you

the content of this speech

i'm speaking of an angel

yes, an angel

the one we soon shall meet

her appearance exactly,

well, of that i'm not too sure

but i know her mind and body

comes untainted

so, we must only teach things that are pure

about entering the world,

i don't know

if that is what she's ready to do

she is my daughter

i am her dad

this will always be true

and to all of the one's

who chose to listen...

i thank you

you now know

i'm no longer one---

i'm two

If only we could.
Loved the sentiment and feeling in this. It's a lovely piece for your little girl and I am sure she is proud of her father.

"i'm no longer one---
i'm two"

Those lines really capture the overall. Beautiful wording. :)

Random review here... "you now know/i'm no longer one---/i'm two" This really touched me :) It's always amazing to see a father actually speak on being a father and not just a dad. You portrayed that in this poem and I enjoyed it very much!
