You Broke Me

You Broke Me

A Poem by H.E Watson
"

Poem of domestic abuse in the mindset of a child.

"

A young girl who loved her life,

But then came along your knife.

Her happiness would not last,

Depression would consume her fast.

You promised love, peace and gold,

Then you’d wait for her to fold.

The lie of everything above,

Would attack her and kill all love.

She would wait her life away,

Think about the promise but never stray.

His knife would strike her day by day,

Mind games he would play.

Until nothing was left of that kid,

Her childhood he would bid.

She was left more alone than ever,

But he would leave her be? Never.

Now everyone can see,

That young girl is me.

I wish I had of known,

I could have picked up the phone.

Someone could have ended my pain,

Nothing to lose, happiness to gain.

But it’s too late you see,

Because, you broke me...
