I could have been

I could have been

A Poem by Holly Mason

Yes , I could of been just like you
enjoy a drink ,forget my kids
I could of been a father
that never met my daughter
I could be angry and love to blame
but hell no I will step up my game
I could of lied to the stars
I could of hurt others so badly
I could toss you aside, so gladly
but hell no I will hold strong
I could live my life taking out my pain
driving other to the very brink of insane
but hell no I will caress my child's smile
I could be callous and hateful
with mean, dead head words
l could be resentful of my life's trespasses
but hell no I would rather love the masses
excuses for the choices that we all can make
I could of been a drunk
I could of been a drug addict
I could of been a criminal
but hell no I am much less subliminal

"much less subliminal"

that is such a sharp ending..

i really feel this piece...one slight suggestions...those lines want to be "could have" rather than "could of"

but a good aggressive poem to get some bitterness out of the system.

needed to be written i am sure...and many will relate.
